No man is an island, entire of itself
every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main
if a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were,
as well as if a manor of thy friends or of thine own were
any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind
and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls
it tolls for thee.

Re: No man is an island.....
Sun, April 27, 2008 - 10:44 PMISLANDS
O for God's sake
they are connected
underneath
They look at each other
across the glittering sea
some keep a low profile
Some are cliffs
The Bathers think
islands are separate like them

Re: No man is an island.....
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 11:07 PMFeelings run deep when connections run deep.
Now that the feelings have given us all the evidence we need, the next step is to keep living the connections.
Simply living the connections.
Living the connections is the work of art.
More than the making of things, making ourselves is the work of art.
We, my dear family, are deeply about art.

The General Purpose is to have fun
Tue, April 29, 2008 - 9:47 AMThe General Purpose - Is to have fun.
I won’t tell other people what they can and can’t do or how to do it. I will, however, tell you what I am planning to do. I am going to the playa and I am building a camp. Those who wish to join me in some part of creating this project are welcome, those who wish to do something else are, of course, welcome to that option as well. The playa is a big open space and there is plenty of room for everyone to do what floats their boat. We are not all required to work together in this one camp and if others are no longer interested in working with me there is nothing stopping them from going in their own direction. I will go in the direction I am headed, whether you join me or not. As I have done for the last nine years and will do for as long as I wish, I have begun the planning and building of the structure of this camp and gathering a crew to build it. I have always had the option to choose who I camp with and I will make that choice again this year. I have begun that process. I have a crew together and we have also begun the fundraising for, and building of, this structure. Anyone interested in participating in this camp with me is welcome and encouraged to get in touch with me, it’s not hard to do. I do answer my emails and I can be reached on tribe, especially if you leave a friendly message. My aim is to have fun and find others that want to have fun as well. My aim is also to find those who want to, and can, do the work. There are lots of different ways to participate at the PO, as you all know, and I believe there is room for everyone, with a positive attitude, to find their niche.
As for this Topica list: This list does not define who owns, operates, or has the right to dictate what will happen at the BRCPO. What will happen will happen. No matter what any of us plan, no one will know what that is until we are in that moment. And in that moment we will each, only, have our own truth. We will each, only have our own illusion.
There was a BRCPO long before this list was created and long before many of you joined it. That doesn’t invalidate anyone that has come along in the years in between. But it also doesn’t give this forum, and these few, the ultimate power over decision making or for what will happen on the playa. Everyone that has put time and effort into the BRCPO can lay claim to some form of participation. Not all of those people are on this list. Being on this list does not define ones status. We were all rookies once and we are all still in some ways. I have been on the playa for 14 years and with the BRCPO for the last 9 years. James Cline started it. I helped Sylvia run it and then I helped Renee run it. When Renee left she left me the bus and all it’s contents. At that time the philosopher asked if he could help me with the application and pre-playa planning. I said yes. That did not give him the power to claim the ultimate say in the camp, nor any say over what I will choose to do, or who I do it with. I said yes to his help and, though he has not done everything perfectly, I have been appreciative of it. I will say that no one, does everything expertly on the playa , myself included, and though we can all judge others, no one is in a position to declare what others can and can’t do unless, perhaps, they are running the event and/or they are the police. Even then, we really only have one choice as individuals, to stay or to leave any given situation. All any of us can do is decide, what we each, individually want to do and who we want to do it with. You can join a group or leave a group. Either way the group will be transforming.
As many of you know I have chosen not to get involved with the internet in previous years, this fact does not discount me or my position in this camp. This camp is not defined by who speaks the loudest or the longest on this list. What matters is what we do. We all get to choose what we will do; do you want to build a camp? do you want to play with others? How do you want to play? and who are those that you want to play with? No one needs to point fingers at anyone else. We all get to rise to our own potential , preferably with love and joy not fear and hate. I will not dictate here, or any where, what anyone else should or shouldn’t do. We all have the choice to accept others or not and to join in a creation or move on to create something new. Sometimes this means adjusting to new ideas and new people. Sometimes this means expanding into exciting new realms, where we can explore our own creativity. One thing is certain, nothing remains the same. I invite you all to find a place to; play nice, play fair and have fun with others. There is room for everyone on the playa. You choose what you want to create, I have.
An exciting side note for those who care to participate, the original creator of the BRCPO, James Cline will be returning to his post this year as the Founding Post Master. We are pumped to have the root of this establishment back in the fold.

Re: The General Purpose is to have fun
Tue, August 5, 2008 - 1:26 PMSeriously.... no one was supposed to take any of this seriously. Is it all really about the postcard? The legal issues with mail? Whats the big stink over?
Im happy I did my VERY SMALL part to add to this chaos. I need a few more years off from the whole experience to re acclimate to the real world a bit..
